Rick Wakeman’s 4 marriages, including current wife 25 years younger than him

Rocker and keyboardist Rick Wakeman is set to join other celebrities on quiz show The Chase today as one of four contestants pitting their wits against the Chaser.

The ITV show sees ruthless quizzers determined to stop them winning the cash prize.

Veteran rocker Wakeman is best known for being part of the progressive rock band Yes between 1971 and 2004 as well as for his solo albums released in the 1970s.

Having studied at the Royal College of Music he was destined for a career as a concert pianist but quit in 1969 to become a full-time session musician.

He played for David Bowie and other rock legends, T. Rex, Elton John, and Cat Stevens.

In 1970 he joined Yes, playing on some of their most successful albums across two stints until 1980.

While achieving international fame the keyboardist has also become known for his colourful personal life.

Wakeman has been married four times and has six children.

He married his first wife Rosaline Woolford, in 1970 aged 20. The couple had two sons, Oliver and Adam before divorcing in 1977.

He later married a recording studio secretary Danielle Corminboeuf, in 1980 who he shares one son, Benjamin, with. He lived with her in Montreux before they divorced shortly afterwards.

Wakeman hit the headlines In 1981, when he met former Page 3 model Nina Carter and had a daughter, Jemma Kiera. The couple married in 1984 and also had a son, Oscar before separating and finally divorcing in 2004.

In 2004, he also revealed that he had an affair with American-born designer Denise Gandrup, who made several of his capes. The couple, who split before reconnecting in 1985, share a daughter, Amanda, together.

Undeterred by his failed marriages, he walked down the aisle with his fourth wife, Rachel Kaufman, in 2011, who is 25 years his junior. They live together in Norfolk.

His agent said at the time: “He did say he wasn’t going to marry again but Rachel is a lovely lady and she must have changed his mind.”

Rick himself revealed: “I was worried about an ageing old rocker like me marrying a lovely young girl like Rachel.

"So I asked her parents’ permission before I asked her for her hand in marriage. Thankfully, they said yes.”
