Robbie Williams concert: Gig-goers banned from parking in streets near Vale Park

Robbie Williams concert Giggoers banned from parking in streets near Vale Park
Port Vale have sent letters to 1,700 affected Burslem residents

Marshals are to patrol streets surrounding Vale Park on the day of the Robbie Williams concert - to stop gig-goers parking outside people's houses. The event management has been outlined - ahead of the Saturday, June 4 concert - in a letter to 1,700 affected Burslem residents.

The letter reveals that park-and-walk sites are being set up and that Hamil Road will be shut for an hour-and-a-half after the concert. Residents are being urged to limit deliveries on the day of the concert - and are being entered into a prize draw for their efforts.

It comes as an extra 10,000 tickets for the homecoming concert go on sale at 10am on Friday, May 6. Gates to the Vale Park gig will open at 4pm, with the concert starting at 6.40pm and finishing at 10pm. Hamil Road - and the junctions of Jenkins Street and High Lane - will be closed from 9.30pm to 11pm.

The letter states: "It is expected that there will be up to 22,000 people in attendance - most of them travelling by car, on foot, or using public transport. This will inevitably cause increased volumes of traffic in the area."

The street marshals will be in position from 2pm to 11pm. Residents are being asked to provide proof of their address to access their street and avoid any delays.

The letter adds: "All roads near the stadium will be residents' parking only. Please be assured that access for residents will be allowed at all times and our sole purpose is to deter concert attendees from parking on the local street network. To achieve this each 'soft road closure' will be staffed by a trained operative and, on approach, you will be asked if you are a resident. Concert attendees will be refused access to stop them parking on your road.

"Can we please ask that you only receive essential deliveries, food orders and visitors on Saturday, June 4 to keep disruption to a minimum."
