Scots fooled as Specsavers van stranded on pop-up bollard in 'epic parking blunder'

Scots were left in stitches after spotting a Specsavers van wedged on top of a pop-up parking bollard.

The hilarious scene was caught on camera on Saturday night after the reported mishap on Edinburgh's Castle Street.

A video from the scene shows the branded optician's vehicle hoisted into the air by its rear end after being left on top of a retractable bollard.

A warning sign located right next to the stranded vehicle read: "Caution automatic bollards in operation. No parking."

The vehicle's hazard lights were switched on to warn other road users in a video shared on social media.

But the Record can reveal that the 'parking blunder' was actually part of an advertising stunt by the optical giant.

Viewers were left in hysterics after being fooled by the driver's alleged mishap. One wrote: "Omg eye test needed me thinks."

Another added: "Should have gone to Specsavers." A third posted: "We passed this on the bus. The poor guy was so confused."

A fourth wrote: "Bet he feels like a right bollard". And a fifth commented: "That’s certainly one way to display the van!"
