This Specsavers van driver really should have gone to Specsavers - after getting their vehicle stranded on top of a bollard.

The van appears to have been lifted up by a submerged bollard - right next to a sign that stated 'CAUTION. Automatic bollards in operation. NO PARKING'.

Aidan McNelis, 45, was visiting Edinburgh for the weekend when he claimed he spotted the unusual sight.

The software developer from Galway, Ireland, posted it on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: 'Should have gone to...Oh, wait.'

Mr McNelis was visiting his daughter who is a student in the city when he took the photo last night just off Princes Street.

He said: 'It was fantastic, I was delighted to come across it. I looked for damage so I don't think anyone could have got hurt.

'I'm sure there would have been an awkward conversation at work for the driver though!

'Around the corner from there, all the bus stops had Specsavers adverts on them.

'And then you see their van on a bollard... you couldn't make it up.'

MailOnline has contacted Specsavers for comment.
