Pre-Match Analysis:
An excellent all-round demonstration from the hosts Bangladesh provided them 8 wicket win in the 2nd T20I and the series is leveled at 1-1. Their bowlers who were taken for the cleaners in the series opener didn’t commit the same mistake in the 2nd T20I as they restricted visitors Sri Lanka to the modest 165 runs on a pretty good batting deck. Despite Mahedi Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman going more than 9 runs an over, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto was clever enough to rotate the other bowlers to pile an extra bit of pressure on the Sri Lankan batters especially at the death, conceding only 43 runs in the last 5 overs. They got off to a brilliant start with Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar stitching 68 run-stand for the opening wicket and it required something spectacular later on in the innings where skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (53*) and Towhid Hridoy (32*) served a perfect batting dish to take the side home with 11 balls to spare. With momentum on their side, they head into the decider with a lot of confidence.
Sri Lanka didn’t take advantage of the favorable batting conditions in the 2nd T20I and struggled to pile enough runs on the board, settling for just 165 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. They recovered well after losing opener Avishka Fernando in the 2nd over with the Mendis duo of Kusal and Kamindu adding 66 runs for the 2nd wicket. They somehow passed the 150-run mark thanks to their experienced players Angelo Matthews (32*) and Dasun Shanaka (20*). Apart from Matheesha Pathirana who picked up 2 wickets, the spark wasn’t seen in the other bowlers in the latter half which led to 8 wickets loss. Wanindu Hasaranga has served his 2-match suspension and is available for selection and Avishka Fernando who scored 4 runs from 2 innings likely has to make a way for the incoming skipper.
