He has starred in a huge range of films, television series, from his role in The Devil Wears Prada to The Hunger Games.

Although we best know him as an actor, he is also a writer, producer and former fashion model.

Stanley was born in November 1960.

Early life

He was born in Peekskill, New York, and grew up in Katonah, New York.

His parents are secretary and writer Joan Tucci and art teacher Stanley Tucci.

Stanley is the oldest of three children and his sister is actress Christine Tucci.

His cousin is Screenwriter Joseph Tropiano.

During the early 1970s, the family spent a year living in Florence, Italy.

Stanley earned his Actors Equity Card when Campbell Scott's mother Colleen Dewhurst arranged for the two friends to appear as soldiers in a Broadway play that she was co-starring.

In 1982, he completed some modelling work and even modelled a television commercial for Levi's 501 jeans.

Personal life

Stanley's first wife, Kathryn Spath-Tucci, known as Kate, died of breast cancer in 2009.

She and Stanley married in 1995 and had three children daughter Camilla and twins Nicolo and Isabel. The couple also raised two children from Kate's previous marriage.

Stanley left Kate in 2005 for actress Edie Falco for a short romance.

The affair ended, and he returned to his wife and kids.

In 2011, now a widower, he got engaged to Felicity Blunt, a British literary agent.

Felicity is the oldest sister of British actress Emily Blunt.

Stanley and Emily co-starred together in The Devil Wears Prada.

Felicity and Stanley were introduced many years later at Emily's wedding to actor John Krasinski.

Stanley and Felicity married in 2012.

The couple lives in Barnes, London.

They welcomed a baby boy into the world in 2015 and a daughter in 2018.

In September 2021, Stanley revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer three years prior.

He received treatment for a tumour that was found on the base of his tongue but said that it was unlikely to return.

In October, he released his memoir Taste, which describes his encounter with cancer and his love for food.

His breakthrough started in 1995, where he starred in the television series Murder One until 1996.

The show earned Stanley a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

One of Stanley's most well-known roles is in 2006's The Devil Wears Prada where he plays Andy, an editor to one of the city's biggest magazines.

Between 2009-2011, he played roles in huge blockbusters including The Lovely Bones, Easy A, Burlesque and Captain America: The First Avengers.
