Andoni Iraola: Quick turnaround to face Swansea ‘not going to be easy’

Andoni Iraola Quick turnaround to face Swansea not going to be easy
ANDONI Iraola admits he “would prefer” not to have another game so soon, with Cherries’ squad increasingly stretched.

Seven first-team players were unavailable as Cherries lost 4-0 to Liverpool on Sunday, with the issues worsened by Max Aarons going off injured.

Cherries return to action on Thursday night, welcoming Swansea City to Vitality Stadium in the FA Cup (7.45pm).

“I would prefer to have more days to recover, especially considering our full-back positions,” Iraola admitted.

“I don’t know how they all finished (on Sunday) and we have one less day than them (Swansea) before the game.

“But it is what it is. We have to prepare, because we want to be in the next round, in a competition that we like. But we know it is not going to be easy.”

Asked if the players will easily be able to put Sunday’s loss behind them, given the quality of Liverpool, Iraola added: “We’ll see. We have another game in a different competition.

“We know against this top, top level of opposition, we have to be at our best and then have moments of some inspiration, to finish things.

“To make the final play like they did in the first goal.

“We didn’t find it. Even at our best, in the cup game, we couldn’t beat Liverpool.

“There is a reason. They haven’t lost this season, except when they had nine players.

“They are really physical, really good and finish very well.

"They scored four goals in the second half, with quality finishing that makes the difference."

Swansea were last in action on Saturday lunchtime, losing 3-1 to Southampton in the Championship.
