Tesco warning to Clubcard customers with 17million of vouchers to spend this May
Supermarket giant Tesco plans to scrap its automatic statements and vouchers so that they will no longer arrive through the letterbox under a new shake-up to the loyalty scheme

Tesco shoppers face losing a collective £17million of Clubcard vouchers in two weeks time.

The supermarket has issued a warning that vouchers handed out via the loyalty scheme expire at the end of May.

Shoppers have to use coupons first issued in May 2020 before the end of this month, otherwise, they will be null and void, Birmingham Mail reported.

Alessandra Bellini, Tesco chief customer officer, said in April: “We know it’s tough right now, which is why we want to show customers all the ways we can help them spend less, and leave them with more money in their pockets – to manage the rising cost of living, or to treat themselves and their loved ones.”

Tesco Clubcard vouchers are issued every three months, in February, May, August and November.

They are valid for two years.

Ken Murphy, chief executive at Tesco said, “Our priority is to be the most convenient retailer.

"That means serving customers wherever, whenever and however they want.

"No matter where our customers live, or how they shop.”

You can check if you have forgotten vouchers by logging into the Tesco Clubcard website with your account details.

It comes after it emerged Tesco plans to scrap its automatic statements and vouchers so that they will no longer arrive through the letterbox under a new shake-up to the loyalty scheme.

Instead, any accumulated points will be transferred into vouchers over email, with a barcode for consumers to scan at the checkout in stores.

Tesco told us it will make the change for those who regularly shop online, and that those users will get an email letting them know about the shake-up.

Not all customers will be affected.

If you have received an email and want to keep receiving your quarterly Clubcard statement and vouchers by post, you'll need to actively opt back in.
