Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss wrote their monster-hit musical Six as a “summer project” while still students at Cambridge University. The show, which told the story of Henry VIII’s wives in their own words, travelled all the way from the Edinburgh Fringe to Broadway, and was celebrated as much for its feminist rewriting of history as for its bright, poppy sound. In New York it won two Tonys (including best original score) while Moss, at 26, became the youngest female director of a Broadway musical. The show grossed more than $1 million in its first week.
