NFL legend Tom Brady retired after 22 years in the league. His decision to call time on his career came just six days after he and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were eliminated from the playoffs by the Los Angeles Rams in dramatic style.

It was with the Buccaneers that Brady won his seventh, and what has turned out to be his final, Super Bowl ring, which is a record for any player in history. It is also more Super Bowl wins than any one franchise has ever won.

It was maybe the seventh that was the most impressive of his Super Bowl wins as the Buccaneers had been one of the worst teams in the entire country before he arrived in Florida.

His previous six rings were all won at the New England Patriots, who he played for between 2000 and 2019.

Looking back at Tom Brady's seven Super Bowls

Three wins in four years saw Brady kickstart his career with success, as he won the Super Bowls held at the end of the 2001, 2003 and 2004 seasons, beating the St Louis Rams, Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles on those occasions.

Then came a 10 year wait for his next Super Bowl victory after defeats in 2007 and 2011, both to the New York Giants. He was a champion again in the 2014 season, with the Patriots back on top beating the Seattle Seahawks in Arizona.

He then went on to do it again two years later as the Patriots won out against the Atlanta Falcons in Houston at the end of the 2016 season, producing a remarkable comeback, winning 34-28 after having been down 28-3.

His sixth and final win with the Patriots came two years after that in the 2018 season, after a low-scoring 13-3 triumph over the LA Rams, before he won last year in his first campaign with the Buccaneers, overcoming Kansas City on home soil.

Brady's career records include the most touchdown passes, most games won, most Super Bowl appearances and wins, while he is the only quarterback to win the big one with teams from both the AFC and the NFC. What an athlete.
