What is the Comic Relief challenge?

To raise money for this year’s Comic Relief, the diver has been taking part in ‘Tom Daley’s Hell of a Homecoming.

The challenge includes brutal endurance tests as he rows, cycles, swims and runs from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford to his hometown of Plymouth.

Here was the four-day itinerary for Daley’s challenge...

Day 1

Row 6 miles - Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to Tower of London

Cycle 60 miles - Tower of London to Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lake

Day 2

Swim 1000 metres - Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lake

Cycle 63 miles - Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lake to Southampton

Day 3

Cycle 130 miles - Southampton to Bovey Castle, Dartmoor National Park

Day 4

Run 30 miles - Bovey Castle to Plymouth

What has been said?

Ahead of Daley’s final day of the challenge (Thursday), the Olympian said the four-day fundraiser was the hardest thing he had ever done.

During the live BBC Breakfast broadcast, Daley said: “I trained for the Olympics, I trained for all of those 20 years that I have been in diving, this is the hardest thing that I have ever had to do in my life.

“Physically, it has just been one thing to the next to the next and the accumulative impact that it has had, I look and feel awful.”

Dragon’s Den star and entrenpreneur Steven Bartlett has praised his Daley, posting a message of support on Instagram last night.

Bartlett wrote: “FaceTime with the incredible @tomdaley on his epic 4 day endurance challenge as he raises money for Red Nose Day!

“Go on Tom - a fellow Plymothian doing the city proud!”
