Pantoja has defended his belt twice since then, first against Brandon Royval and then against Steve Erceg, with the last fight in May this year for UFC 301.

His opponent, Asakura, is making his debut in the UFC for the bout, but comes with pedigree. The Japanese mixed martial artist is a two-time Rizin bantamweight champion.

In the co-main, there’s welterweight action as two unbeaten records go on the line.

Shavkat Rakhmonov takes on Britain’s Ian Machado Garry, and a win for either will see them hope to go on to challenge Belal Muhammed for the title down the line.

Before then, Ciryl Gane continues his comeback after last year’s defeat to Jon Jones.

He scored a TKO over Serghei Spivac in September 2023, and could now post back-to-back victories if he is successful against veteran fighter Alexander Volkov.

Also on the main card, Bryce Mitchell and Kron Gracie go toe-to-toe at featherweight, and in the same division, Nate Landwehr meets Choi Doo-ho.
