Live: Westfield Stratford shoppers allowed back into shopping centre after suspicious package discovered

Westfield Stratford shopping centre was evacuated today (Wednesday, May 8). Shoppers wrote on X (Twitter) that there was a 'bomb scare' and that the area was 'closed due to a security threat'.
Police confirmed that a suspicious package was found, but it was found to not be dangerous after all.
The incident has been stood down with shoppers allowed back in now.
Paddy wrote on X: "Westfield Stratford has been evacuated for a bomb threat." Remz tweeted: "Was in stratty [Stratford] Westfield and they’ve evacuated everyone out of the mall."
Another user said: "At work and Westfield just got evacuated….people are saying bomb threat." Likewise, Myst said: "Bomb scare in Stratford Westfield. Be vigilant."
