Local elections 2022: Where is my polling station for the council elections in Wales

Council elections are taking place in Wales this week. For most people, voting takes place on Thursday, May 5. Polling stations are open from 7am until 10pm. The results are expected on Friday, May 6. We've got a list of the times results are expected here.

The Electoral Commission advises you to check where your polling station is. It might not be the closest one to where to you live, and it might have changed since the last time you voted. You have to go to your allocated polling station, and you can't go to a different one close to where you work, for example.

As a result of changes to boundaries this election, 1,234 councillors are to be elected, but we already know some have already been elected due to standing unopposed.

How do I find my polling station

Your polling station will be on your poll card, which you'll receive through the post a few weeks before polling day. You can see your candidates and polling station when you enter your postcode into the below widget:

What time are they open?

Polling stations are open from 7am until 10pm. They can get busy, particularly towards the end of the day. If there's a queue at your polling station, you'll still be able to vote as long as you joined the queue before 10pm. Do I need to take my polling card?

You don't need to take your polling card with you, but it can help to speed up the process.
