Team GB star Zoe Atkin breaks down in tears after Winter Olympic debut horror show after missed flights...

SOBBING Zoe Atkin missed her flight, skipped her alarm and then crashed twice on a nightmare Olympic debut.

Amid windy conditions at the Genting Snow Park, the younger Atkin skiing sibling was ninth in the halfpipe final, crashing in two of her three runs, and losing one of her skis both times.

US-born Atkin, 19, broke down in tears in the mixed zone as she watched Chinese sensation Eileen Gu pick up a second Olympic gold of these Games.

The build-up was far from ideal as she tried to travel over from her Utah home but had to book a new itinerary.

Atkin said: “I missed my flight over, which was stressful and worrying, as I chilled by an LA pool for a day.

“And also on qualis day I forgot to set my alarm.

“I have been kind of all over the place but we made it. I mean I set it but I accidentally set it for PM not AM.

“My brain has been kind of scattered this Olympics, I’ve been so excited. It has been so crazy trying to experience it all.”

Elder sister Izzy, the slopestyle bronze medallist from 2018, broke a pelvis in December but flew 6,000 miles to China before withdrawing from competition.

Atkin said: “Izzy wants to keep it private what happened. She had an unexpected medical emergency.

“She had to fly home which is unfortunate because I wanted her to be here.

“It’s better to prioritise her health and I’m glad she was able to be here for a couple of days and we got to spend some time together in the Village.”

However, Zoe's not the only Team GB star that's had a tumultuous Olympics.

The nation's men's bobsleigh team were also involved in a horror spectacle that saw them crash at 83mph.

On the third run of the men’s bobsleigh event, pilot Brad Hall and brakesman Nick Gleeson ended up tipping over their sled on unlucky corner No.13.

The pair slid over the finish line with their heads on the ice and supporters frantically worrying about their health.

Luckily there were no physical problems and the duo completed the fourth run successfully to ensure there would be no psychological hangovers.
