Andrew, 47, stood out in a pale pink blazer, teamed with a white vest and navy trousers.

In a new interview with Screen Daily, the Irish actor discussed the relationship between casting and sexuality, revealing he 'never thought' he would get the opportunity to play leading roles.

He said: 'I remember growing up and reading Empire magazine and thinking I would never get a chance to play leading roles in the cinema. And I am thrilled that has changed.

'As much as I feel like representation is important, so is transformation. I don’t love the idea of being cast for something purely for my own sexuality — you’re not just playing "gay", you’re playing the attributes of the character.

'I don’t want a totalitarian regime - we have to look at each individual story we’re telling and what’s right for that.'

All Of Us Strangers - based the film on the 1987 Japanese psychological novel Strangers by Taichi Yamada - is directed by Andrew Haigh and will be released in the UK on January 26.

The film stars Andrew as screenwriter drawn back to his childhood home who enters into a fledgling relationship with a mysterious neighbor (Paul).

The LGBTQ+ romantic fantasy dominated the competition at the British Independent Film Awards last month, earning a staggering seven gongs in total.

Among the awards was the top prize for Best Film, beating Femme, How To Have Sex, Rye Lane and Scrapper.

All Of Us Strangers also scored Best Director and Best Screenplay for English filmmaker Andrew Haigh, who is known for his work on films Weekend and 45 Years.

Paul shared the Best Supporting Performance gong for his role in the film with Shaun Thomas from How To Have Sex.

Claire was also nominated in the Best Supporting Performance category but lost out to her co-star Paul.

She will be hoping to take home the BAFTA for Supporting Actress on February 18 but faces stiff competition in her category.

Acclaimed film director Andrew Haigh previously said that Paul and Andrew were 'fearless' when filming their sex scenes in the new movie.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, he said: 'There was chemistry between the two of them literally the second I saw them together.

'Both of them were pretty fearless. There was no sense of them being afraid of approaching those scenes. They knew how important they were.'

Nadia Sawalha made a political statement about Israel–Hamas war as she arrived at the UK Gala Screening of All Of Us Strangers at BFI Southbank in London on Tuesday.

The actress and television personality, 59, held her hands up on the red carpet with the words 'cease' and 'fire' written on them in black lettering.

She had a red hairband between her fingers, with Nadia having recently been vocal about the armed conflict between Israel and Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups in the Gaza strip.

Loose Women panellist Nadia commanded the attention of onlookers as she held her hands up for the entire time she posed on the red carpet, at one point raising her arms up in the air above her head.

Nadia was recently at the centre of a bitter row after being accused of using her social media account to circulate pro-Palestinian propaganda, while ignoring the suffering of Israelis murdered and kidnapped by Hamas terrorists.

The Mail on Sunday revealed in November last year that ITV was bombarded with complaints from viewers angered by what they claimed was a 'one-sided' stance after the conflict began after Hamas terrorists committed atrocities in southern Israel on October 7.

In Instagram posts, Nadia infuriated viewers of Loose Women, many of whom were Jewish, after she appeared to support pro-Palestinian campaigners who argue that the best way to secure the return of the hostages, who include several Brits, was for Israel to adhere to a ceasefire in Gaza, even though many military experts and politicians, including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Leader of the Labour Party Sir Keir Starmer, argue this would only allow Hamas time to restock weaponry.

An ITV insider confirmed the channel's switchboard had been 'bombarded' with viewers saying they were angered by Sawalha's stance on Gaza, and who 'wanted to know the best way of lodging complaints against her with ITV bosses'.

'We were quite surprised at the volume of complaints over the past week about Nadia. It's quite unusual to get this sort of reaction.

'But then again, Israel/Palestine has always been a very divisive issue.'

People commenting online also asked why she has been 'silent on 7/10'.

Nadia told MailOnline: 'I have talked about the awful tragedy of October 7th and the continuing hostage crisis for Israel.

'As a British-Arab I have also talked about the plight of the Palestinians, and I firmly believe, as do millions of other humanitarians, that a ceasefire is the most humane way forward for both the innocent hostages and the innocent civilians of Gaza and the West Bank.'

Meanwhile, Nadia's cameraman husband Mark Adderley also waded into the row and defended his wife's stance suggesting the murder of 1400 men, women and children by Hamas, with over 240 innocents taken hostage in Gaza had been 'all the attention of sympathy in the world' but that the conversation had now 'moved on'.

Nadia is the daughter of the Jordanian-born British actor Nadim Sawalha and his English wife Roberta Lane. She is the sister of television actress Julia Sawalha and has appeared on Lily Savage's Blankety Blank with her.
