Who is Austin Butler? Vanessa Hudgens’ boyfriend has landed the role of Elvis Presley over Harry Styles

ig news for fans of the King of Rock n’ Roll - the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic has found its lead. The Carrie Diaries’ Austin Butler will be trading his blonde do for Presley’s iconic slick black hairstyle, complete with a handful uh-huh-huhs thrown in for good measure.

After a lengthy casting process which saw rumoured names including Harry Styles and Miles Teller thrown into the mix, Butler was announced on Monday and he confirmed the news on Instagram.

Butler posted a screen capture of an article announcing the news, alongside a Presley quote, "You have made my life complete, and I love you so."

Even if you haven’t seen The Shannara Chronicles or Zoey 101, Butler’s a face you’ll recognise from his modelling campaigns and high profile relationship with actor Vanessa Hudgens.

The currently untitled Elvis Presley biopic will be written, produced and directed by Moulin Rouge’s Baz Luhrmann and is said to centre on Presley’s early years, especially on the “complex dynamic spanning over 20 years” between Presley and his manager Colonel Tom Parker. Parker will be played by Tom Hanks.

While there’s no doubt that Butler is delighted about the role, no one appears to be happier for him than his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens. In fact, she took to Instagram to gush about her boyfriend and wrote, “I AMMMM OVERRRR THE F***ING MOOOOOOOOONNNNN. I CANT WAIT
