BBC Breakfast's weatherman Owain Wyn Evans threatens to leave live on air

BBC Breakfasts weatherman Owain Wyn Evans threatens to leave live on air
Owain Wyn Evans jokingly exited the BBC Breakfast set during Friday's show when one of his colleagues teased him

Owain Wyn Evans threatened to dart off-screen on Friday's edition of BBC Breakfast.

The weatherman joked that he 'was off' when appearing on the sofa alongside presenters Naga Munchetty, Jon Kay and Mike Bushell.

The meteorologist was chatting to his colleagues after drumming constantly for 24 hours in order to raise money for Children In Need.

Owain smashed records when he surpassed the £3million mark and as his BBC Breakfast co-stars reflected on his achievement he made it clear that he does not want to see a pair of drumsticks for a while.

After Owain told that he 'couldn't believe the amount of cash raised for the charity, Jon reminded him that the final figure will be unvieled on tonight's Children in Need show.

Thankful for donations, Owain said: "It was over £3million. And, as I've said a few times, but I think it really does sum it up for me. Three million quid, a lot of that would have been single donations of a fiver or a tenner.

"A fiver or a tenner for some people is two coffees, but for some people it's a lot of money, and that's what really got me. Knowing that people were giving what they could and that money is going to help children across the UK."

Then Mike decided to joke around as he pulled out a set of drum sticks.

As Naga said: "We will find out the amount later. I wouldn't be surprised if it was higher... I don't know, but I really wouldn't be surprised if it was higher, because you touched peoples' hearts as well as your own."

Mike responded: "And it's likely to go up as well tonight, because I've got a surprise for Owain. He's doing it again, live from the show tonight!"

Owain lept up in a teasing way and went on explaining: "No, I've seen the drum sticks everyone, bye!"

Mike continued the joke by asking: "No, come back! We need you!"

Owain then laughed as he hopped back onto the sofa before spinning a drumstick in his hand.

Naga laughed: "Your nonchalant little spin of those! You couldn't resist, could you?"
