A mystery Premier League footballer stole the show during a charity match between Beta Squad and AMP - and even scored at both ends of the pitch.

The unnamed player, also said to have featured in the Champions League during his career, donned a large mask for the thrilling game at Selhurst Park.

The two popular YouTube groups squared off with all proceeds raised going to The Water Project, a cause providing clean water to villages across sub-Saharan Africa.

Big names such as Mark Goldbridge, host of The United Stand, Chunkz and King Kenny were in action for Beta Squad while Kai Cenat and Druski turned out for AMP.

But it was the mystery professional footballer, whose black and red mask helped to hide his identity, that lifted the crowd to their feet after scoring a superb solo goal.

Appearing head and shoulders above those around him, he danced his way down the right flank before cutting inside and arrowing an effort into the bottom corner.

He notched his brace in the second half after once again gliding beyond several amateur defenders and coolly slotting home with his left foot.

Earlier in the game, he had also laid off to Eman for AMP's equaliser.

The player remained on the pitch but refused to remove his mask, raising questions over whether his vision had been affected when he scored an own goal.

With AMP trailing 4-2 shortly after half-time, the ball dropped awkwardly toward him at the far post. He was unable to move his leg and the deflection rolled into the net.

His second strike proved to be his last piece of action after he was substituted off in the 76th minute - although the goals continued to pour.

AMP levelled the game up with just 10 minutes to go and after Beta Squad immediately regained the lead, Daniel Sturridge slotted home to make it 6-6.

The game ended with the scores locked level after thousands of spectators rushed onto the pitch and refused to leave, forcing the players to be whisked away.

The stadium announcer had pleaded with the crowd to leave the field, denying the capacity audience the chance to watch a penalty shootout to decide the winner.
