BorgWarner has extended its contract to supply 400V high-voltage coolant heaters (HVCH) to an unnamed major global automaker. The technology will be used on the automaker’s battery-electric SUVs and passenger truck platforms. BorgWarner announced the win as part of three contracts for its HVCH secured withNorth American automakers.

“We are thrilled to extend our contract with this OEM and to supply our robust HVCH technology to the company’s largest vehicle platforms,” said Joe Fadool, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Emissions, Thermal and Turbo Systems. “BorgWarner prides itself on providing in-depth technical expertise for our partners and delivering exceptional local production support to reduce lead times and shipping costs, ultimately accelerating our customers’ electrification initiatives.”

BorgWarner’s 400V HVCH plays a crucial role in electric vehicles. It manages battery pack temperature, which directly influences charging efficiency, battery life, performance, and driving range. In cold climates, the HVCH also provides cabin heating down to temperatures as low as -40˚C. This specific HVCH application is tailored for larger SUVs and trucks with higher power density demands.

BorgWarner designed the HVCH at its Auburn Hills, Michigan technical center for streamlined customer collaboration. Importantly, the HVCH will be manufactured at its Cadillac, Michigan facility, marking the only American-made HVCH technology supplier.

BorgWarner continues to secure HVCH contracts across multiple regions. Recent wins include a European OEM’s electric vehicle platform and a light-vehicle program from a global OEM.
