A Microsoft-powered medical AI spotted cancer in 11 women where doctors didn't
The efficacy of Mia became evident as it uncovered signs of breast cancer that had eluded human doctors, bringing to light 11 cases that had previously gone unnoticed. These cases included tumors too minuscule for even highly-trained radiologists to detect. Among those whose lives were potentially saved by Mia was Barbara, a resident of Aberdeen, Scotland, whose testimonial underscored the profound impact of the AI tool in catching her cancer at an early stage.
Nursing home, doctor fined Rs 43 lakh for patient death from PPH
The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) Telangana recently directed a nursing home and its doctor to pay Rs 43 lakh compensation to the husband and child of a patient, who died while delivering the baby from Post Partum Hemorrhage (PPH).
It was observed by the consumer court that the treating facility and the doctor were not properly equipped despite PPH being an anticipated emergency.

Health Ministry fires prevention directive
Ahead of the rising temperatures of the summer, the Union Health Ministry and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have issued a joint advisory to all States/UTs asking them to take proactive measures in preventing the devastating incidents caused by hospital fires
