Bridget Fonda has been pictured for the first time in 12 years after the former actress left the showbiz world to focus on motherhood.

The former Hollywood star, now 58, was seen hopping into her car in Los Angeles, with her 17-year-old son Oliver, who she shares with Danny Elfman.

Bridget looked casual in a striped t-shirt and trousers, as she wore her hair back in a ponytail and donned a pair of glasses.

She headed in and out of some shops, and was accompanied by her sweet dog.

The Point of No Return actress was last seen in public in 2009, attending the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s epic Inglorious Basterds.

Bridget was a Hollywood icon in the 1980s and 90s, starring in films including Jackie Brown, The Godfather II, Single White Female, and It Could Happen To You.

The daughter of Peter Fonda and the niece of Jane Fonda, she also landed two Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy Award.

However, Bridget’s final role was 20 years ago, in 2002.

She played the titular role in the TV series Snow Queen, before leaving the acting world entirely to focus on starting a family with her husband Danny, who has two daughters, Lola and Mali, from his marriage to Geri Eisenmenger.

The couple welcomed son Oliver in 2005 and they now own a ranch in Santa Barbara.

In a 1998 interview, Bridget was quoted as saying she wanted her career to be on her terms.

She said: ‘My problem is I want it all, but I want it on my terms. I think “Oh, God, I wish I had it in me to go and schmooze, because then I might get offered all the parts, and work with all the directors I want to work with.”

‘And then I think, how exhausting. If I can’t get it on my terms, then I guess I just don’t want it badly enough to get it on somebody else’s. Maybe that’s what it all boils down to.’
