BRIDGET Fonda's husband Danny Elfman has totally transformed his image - swapping clean cut look for long hair and chest tattoos.

The 68-year-old looks dramatically different in new photographs, days after his wife was seen for the first time in 12 years.

The couple used to be red carpet regulars, but Danny has been solo in the spotlight after Bridget quit fame.

His musical career has gone from strength to strength - composing for 16 of Tim Burton's movies, including Batman, Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

He's also written music for The Simpsons and Desperate Housewives.

Throughout his career he's been seen in suits and glasses.

But a recent picture shows he's grown out his red hair and revealed his hidden tattoos.

Like his wife Bridget, he's drastically changed his image.

Bridget was photographed for the first time since 2009 on Wednesday and appeared unrecognisable.

The former scene-stealer was seen wearing a loose black-and-white striped shirt, black rimmed glasses and baggy pants as she stepped out of her silver Land Rover SUV.

Her once golden-blonde hair - now grey - was pulled back in a bun and her face seemingly makeup-free as she drove with her son Oliver, 17, whom she shares with her husband and music maestro Danny Elfman, 68.

A furry friend was also by her side as the reclusive star navigated in and out of her car and carried various items including a cell phone.

Bridget was last photographed at the premiere of Quentin Tarantino's World War II epic Inglorious Basterds with husband Danny 12 years ago.

Her last film role was in 2002 - after which she retired - and these new photos came the week of her 58th birthday.
