Graham Potter will be disappointed that his team are behind but he’ll be happy with the performance that they’ve put in. Take away the score and Brighton have been the better of the two teams.

Chelsea aren’t at their best, they look a little leggy and have hardly given the ball to Romelu Lukaku. If the Seagulls can get the next goal they could go on to win this game.

All four of Hakim Ziyech’s Premier League goals for Chelsea have come away from home, netting at Turf Moor, the Etihad Stadium, Vicarage Road and now the Amex Stadium.

45+1 mins: Chelsea defend a Brighton corner to bring the match into half-time. Brighton’s early pressure hasn’t worked out for them after Hakim Ziyech’s long-ranged effort has given the Blues a one goal lead going into the break.

Chelsea have been far from their best but that has been down to Brighton’s discipline and pressure. If the Seagulls were more clinical in the final third Chelsea would have a game on their hands.

43 mins: Good pressing from Lamptey sees him block Antonio Rudiger’s forward ball out for a Chelsea throw in deep in their own half.

Chance! The ball is played up to Ziyech who attempts to pass it across to Hudson-Odoi. Brighton intercept the pass but Lukaku gets it back and feeds it into the box for the wingback. Mount makes a run into the middle of the box and wants the ball but Hudson-Odoi shoots and sends it over the crossbar!

41 mins: Chance! Cucurella sends the ball up to Welbeck who takes it into the box. He drives at Azpilicueta before cutting inside and creating an angle to shoot. He fires a right-footed effort at goal but doesn’t catch it well and hoofs it over the goal.

38 mins: Gross picks out Moder in the box but he chooses to pass the ball backwards instead of taking a shot. The Seagulls come again with Cucurella played in down the left. He slots a cross towards the far side of the box but Lamptey leaps too early and can’t get a head to the ball.

35 mins: Chelsea burst forward on a counter-attack with Kante driving them forward. Mount sprints down the inside left but Kante’s pass across it too far out of reach and the ball rolls out for a Brighton throw in.

32 mins: Brighton respond by winning a free kick and whipping it into the box. Thiago Silva wins the initial header and Kepa Arrizabalaga comes out to claim the second ball.

28 mins: Where has this come from?! Chelsea take the lead through Hakim Ziyech’s shot from outside the box. N’Golo Kante takes the ball into the penalty area and cuts it back to Ziyech. He comes inside and sets himself up for a left-footed strike. There’s a deflection off Alexis MacAllister and the ball sneaks past Robert Sanchez’s outstretched hand to finish in the bottom corner! Chelsea lead.
