Wrexham have just been dealt a massive injury blow vs Bristol Rovers, Paul Mullin given chance ????

Wrexham and Bristol Rovers went head-to-head in one of Sataurday’s early League One kick-offs.

Wrexham are yet to lose a home clash this season but their away record has been questionable.

Phil Parkinson has seen his side drop points on six occasions when away from the Racecourse Ground already this campaign.

They have also struggled somewhat on the goal front when on the road but despite this, Elliot Lee once again started up top against Bristol Rovers.

The Pirates changed manager earlier this week and were no doubt hoping for a quick bounce when they welcomed a Wrexham side aiming to end the day above Birmingham City to the Memorial Stadium.

Parkinson’s had not lost a league game since November prior to kick-off, while Bristol Rovers had earned just one victory in five.

Elliot Lee injured during Bristol Rovers vs Wrexham

Wrexham dominated the opening stages of the game with Ollie Palmer and Lewis Brunt seeing efforts go just over the bar.

The away side would take the lead after 17 minutes, however, when Matty James slipped in Elliot Lee who finished well.

MORE WREXHAM STORIES

Wrexham fans have questioned Lee’s ability to play as a second striker of late but he silenced the critics with a fantastic finish on Saturday.

However, the makeshift forward’s afternoon quickly turned to one of disappointment when he was forced off after 36 minutes and replaced by Paul Mullin.

Parkinson is expected to provide an update on the player post-match but losing Lee for any amount of time during this hectic period will be a big blow.

Paul Mullin can now step up for Wrexham

Mullin lost his place in the eleven last month, with Lee having partnered Ollie Palmer up top in the last six games.

The 30-year-old had just one League One goal in 18 matches this season before coming on against Bristol Rovers.

But a Wrexham expert has backed Mullin to come good by the end of the 2024/25 season and he now has the perfect chance to do so.

The Red Dragons have three more games to play in the next 12 days and it seems likely their record goalscorer will finally be given some starts.
