Watch: When the RTÉ News intern met the RTÉ News legend on his last day at work

I first met Bryan Dobson when I was 11 years old. As a child, my dream was to present the Six One News and I got the chance to spend a day in the newsroom with Bryan himself.

Five years later, I sent him an email. This time, I asked him if I could come to RTÉ for my Transition Year work experience.

Once again, he was kind enough to meet me, generously imparting his pearls of wisdom.

I'm now 24 and I started a six-month internship in the newsroom this week - Bryan's last, after a 37-year career here.

Of course, I wasn't going to miss the chance to ask him for some final advice.

"It's nice to bring it full circle," Bryan laughed.
