North Shropshire Lib Dems predict theyll win byelection comfortably and pile more pressure on PM
The latest updates as counting continues in the North Shropshire by-election, with the Conservatives hoping to retain the seat in a contest sparked by the resignation of Owen Paterson.

If the Lib Dems do manage to pull off a shock victory, it will be their second by-election success of 2021.

Back in June, the party overturned another healthy Tory majority in Chesham and Amersham with a swing of 25%.

The result prompted party leader Sir Ed Davey to claim that the Tories' "blue wall" was "beginning to crumble".
