Call of Duty 2022 game announced as Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty rebooted the Modern Warfare sub-series with 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Now, just like the original, the reboot is getting a sequel titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Developer Infinity War made the announcement on Twitter, revealing the game's logo as a large 'MW', with the middle of the logo coloured green to make a 'II' Roman numeral.
Beyond the fact that the game will release later this year and likely sell gangbusters, nothing else is known about the new Modern Warfare 2. We expect that, like the 2019 reboot, it will tell an original story rather than remaking an old one.

Earlier this year there were reports that a full-blooded Call of Duty would not release in 2023, although Activision issued a statement that read: "We have an exciting slate of premium and free-to-play Call of Duty experiences for this year, next year and beyond.
"Reports of anything otherwise are incorrect. We look forward to sharing more details when the time is right."
2023's Call of Duty looks like it's going to be the first game in the series released by Microsoft, as the massive buyout deal that was announced earlier this year should be completed next year.

After a period of uncertainty, it was confirmed that Call of Duty games and other big Activision franchises will continue to appear on PlayStation consoles, while Microsoft have stated that they want to support Nintendo more as well. We haven't seen Call of Duty on Switch yet.
Call of Duty's latest release, Vanguard, is available on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/s, and PC.
