CALL the Midwife fans were left raging, 'I'm absolutely furious!' as they turned on the show favourite after they made an 'unforgivable' mistake.
The latest episode saw things take a turbulent turn for Trixie (Helen George) and Matthew Aylward.
Matthew interfered with his wife Trixie's work and then demanded that she quit her job.
Fans were shocked at his behaviour and took to X/Twitter to share their frustration.
One fumed: "Trixie deserves the world, Matthew has p****d me off so much tonight! I’m absolutely furious!"
A second raged: "I’m sad about the Trixie and Matthew storyline. Why can’t they just be happy? Why does there always have to be angst? Surely both characters have had enough angst?"

A third complained: "I'm really trying to hold out hope for Trixie and Matthew. I'm trying to put his attitude down to the stress of his dad and dealing with the aftermath of that. Well, here's hoping anyway. I want them to be so happy together."
A fourth penned: "Matthew and Trixie are going to end up divorcing, aren't they? I was really hoping she'd get her happy ending, but the way he treated her in tonight's episode really disappointed me."
It came after, Matthew struggled to handle his crying toddler, Jonty, while Trixie assisted with a home birth.
He overreacted and called midwife Rosalind Clifford, leading Trixie to leave Joyce Highland alone to answer the supposed emergency.

However, Trixie was furious to discover that there was no real emergency, just Matthew's unreasonable demand.
Feeling remorseful, she considered quitting but Sister Julienne refused to listen.
Later, Matthew asked his wife to quit, claiming she had different priorities now.
Call The Midwife is on BBC One on Sunday nights at 8pm
