Callan Rydz doesn't appear to mind the crude chants by the Alexandra Palace crowd about him having 's*** hair' during his latest win.

The 26-year-old booked his place in the quarter-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship on Monday by beating Robert Owen.

Rydz came back from two sets down to secure a 4-3 win on stage at Ally Pally.

It was an eventful match for 'Riot' who also had to contend with the venue's infamous wasp as he sealed his spot in the last eight.

His turnaround was also inspired by the support of the crowd inside Ally Pally.

Fans in attendance could be heard signing an X-rated chant as they cheered on Rydz during the fourth set.

The crowd chanted: "Callan Rydz. Callan Rydz. Callan Callan Rydz. He's got s*** hair, but we don't care. Callan Callan Rydz."

Rydz addressed the chants after the match whilst speaking in his press conference.

He explained: "I'll not cry about it. I've had worse off loads of people back home, my best friends, they take the mick out of it all the time, you know.

"Listen, the crowd won me that game, I didn't win it. Averaging 97 in the end and I felt like I struggled, it shows I'm in a good stead moving forward."

The world number 43 later added: "I'm all for the banter. I can give it to them just as much as they give it to me. I love the banter with them.

"And I think they won me this game, I didn't win it. So I've got to thank them."

Rydz is now into his second Ally Pally quarter-final having got to the same stage during the 2022 tournament.

He will face either Michael van Gerwen or Jeffrey de Graaf in the last eight on New Year's Day.

Elsewhere, there were also wins for Chris Dobey and Nathan Aspinall during Monday's afternoon session.

It leaves just three more matches remaining in round four on the final day of play this year.

As well as Van Gerwen vs De Graaf, Stephen Bunting faces Luke Woodhouse in tonight's evening session.

Meanwhile, last year's runner-up Luke Littler takes on Ryan Joyce in the last match of the night.
