European country which legalize cultivation and use of cannabis
Berlin: Starting from April 1st, the cultivation and use of cannabis have been legalized in Germany.
In Germany, carrying up to 25 grams of dried cannabis for personal use will be legal and a certain quantity of cannabis can also be cultivated at home. Opposition parties and public health groups have strongly criticized this government initiative.
The coalition government led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz will implement its decision to partially legalize cannabis starting from Monday, April 1st but access to this substance will not be straightforward. Let’s delve into the details of the new laws.
From April 1st onwards, carrying up to 25 grams of dried cannabis for personal use will be legal which is enough to make approximately 80 cigarettes. However, this quantity is also dependent on consumption. For an adult, the cultivation of up to three plants and possession of up to 50 grams of dried cannabis will be permitted for personal use.
However, the use of drugs will remain prohibited within 100 meters of schools, kindergartens, sports fields and public recreational areas. Furthermore, there will be restrictions on smoking cigarettes in pedestrian zones with a ban imposed from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
