Aberdeen v Celtic Scottish Cup semifinal referee and VAR confirmed as Dons
seek major Hampden scalp
The Reds travel to Glasgow looking to overcome their Celtic hoodoo in cup competitions and reach a second domestic final of the season against either Rangers or Hearts.

The SFA have revealed the referee and VAR appointments for this weekend's Scottish Cup semi-finals as Aberdeen get set for a massive clash against holders Celtic.

Peter Leven will take charge of the Dons once again this weekend, as the caretaker boss looks to pull off a major upset by toppling Brendan Rodgers' Hoops at Hampden in what is Aberdeen's last shot at silverware this season.

The Reds reached the Viaplay Cup final under then manager Barry Robson but came up short against Rangers, and will now be hoping to go the distance and end their 10-year wait for a trophy.

Aberdeen haven't won the Scottish Cup since that famous final against Celtic in 1990 when the Dons won a dramatic penalty shootout 9-8 to lift the trophy.

This weekend they head into battle on the back of another disappointing stalemate in the league, with Dundee holding the hosts at Pittodrie.

But they will be buoyed by the fact they are unbeaten in four outings, and last time they faced Celtic they produced an impressive 1-1 draw in the Granite City when Leven stepped into the void left by Robson after his sacking.

This weekend sees Don Robertson as is the man in the middle for the semi-final, and it's a familiar face as the referee takes charge of the Reds at Hampden once again having been in charge of the League Cup final defeat.

He will be joined by Graeme Stewart and Steven Traynor as the assistant referees. The fourth official is David Dickinson, and on VAR duty it's Greg Aitken along with assistant VAR Andrew McWilliam.
