Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will return to Hampden for the first time since 2018 as the Hoops take on Aberdeen in a Scottish Cup semi-final this weekend.

At the National Stadium, the boss has an impeccable record. Indeed, across nine visits to Glasgow’s southside, Rodgers has won nine times.

What is even more impressive is the fact that none of those games have gone to extra time, with the Bhoys winning them all within 90 minutes.

In the Invincible treble season, the gaffer led his side out against Rangers in the last four of the League Cup and Scottish Cup. Celtic won 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.

Each competition saw the Hoops face Aberdeen in the final, triumphing 3-0 in the League Cup showpiece and 2-1 to secure the Invincible Treble on a historic day in May 2017.

The following season saw Celtic beat Hibs 4-2 at Hampden to get to the League Cup final in which they defeated Motherwell by two goals to nil.

Their Scottish Cup campaign that year involved a 4-0 dismantling of their city rivals at the national stadium before they once more returned a few weeks later to comfortably beat ‘Well 2-0.

In the 2018/19 season, Rodgers departed midway through but he enjoyed a solitary trip to Hampden for the League Cup final because his team’s semi was played at Murrayfield.

Against Aberdeen, the then double-treble holders were yet again victorious, coming away 1-0 victors thanks to a first-half Ryan Christie strike.

It is fitting that Rodgers’ last game at Hampden was against the Dons and the first one back since his return is too.

Nine wins out of nine in the southside of Glasgow is flawless, but the boss will be looking to make it ten in a row this weekend.
