NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad on Wednesday surpassed star Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli to become the leading run-scorer in IPL 2024.Gaikwad's sensational batting displays have seen him amass an impressive tally of 509 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 146.69, eclipsing Kohli's total of 500 runs in 10 games at a strike rate of 147.49 in the ongoing tournament. Both of them have identically scored a hundred and four fifties each so far. However, it's a matter of time for Kohli to regain the Orange cap in his upcoming match since the difference is of 9 runs only. The right-hander brought up his third fifty in a row in this IPL with a well-timed six off Punjab Kings stand-in skipper Sam Curran over long-on and it was also the first six in the 17th over of the CSK innings. Riding on opener Gaikwad's 48-ball 62, CSK reached to a modest 162 for seven in their IPL match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.Gaikwad's consistent performances throughout the season have been instrumental in CSK's success. His ability to score runs at a brisk pace while maintaining a high strike rate has made him a valuable asset to the team. The Maharashtra batsman's elegant stroke play and sound technique have earned him praise from cricket experts and fans alike.
