Chivalry viewers rage ‘that’s an hour I’ll never get back’ as they switch off new Steve Coogan comedy...

CHANNEL 4 comedy-drama Chivalry premiered last night with a double bill.

But the Steve Coogan programme failed to captivate viewers as many raged about the new show on Twitter.

British actor and screenwriter Steve has teamed up with actress and activist Sarah Solemani to write and star in Chivalry as producer Cameron O'Neil and indie film director Bobby Sohrabi.

The brand new comedy aired on Channel 4 as the characters brought in intimacy coordinator Tatiana (portrayed by Aisling Bea) to re-examine a sex scene in the opening double bill.

However, Chivalry was not off to a great start as viewers immediately tuned out after the first episode, swarming over to Twitter.

Viewers held nothing back as they commented on the new six-episode series.

"So far, Chivalry on Ch4 gets 0/10 from me. Cynically exploiting the role of women in the film industry, in order to pretend it doing the opposite", one Twitter user commented.

A second viewer jumped in: "Halfway through the first episode of Chivalry. So far: hard work", while another added, "watched the first episode of Chivalry earlier. Had no desire to watch the second."

Another fuming viewer penned: "Chivalry half an hour I won't get back."

Meanwhile, a fourth one asked: "Who else is not impressed with @Channel4 's new 'comedy drama' Chivalry?"

Another viewer found Chivalry "very slow and hard work" just as another echoed: "half way through the first one, and it's a struggle."

Fortunately for the series, not all opinions were bad as some viewers said they thoroughly enjoyed the comedy.

"Loving Chivalry", one viewer wrote as another commented: "enjoying it so far. Plenty of laughs."

As mentioned above, Steve Coogan stars alongside Sarah Solemani in the show and they are joined by other big names in the likes of Wanda Sykes and Sienna Miller.

Dreaming While Black and Doctor Who actor Adjani Salmon completes the line-up as Bobby's devoted husband.

Chivalry was directed by Marta Cunningham, known for her work on Amazon series Modern Love, Grace and Frankie and Dear White People.

But will future episodes of the show manage to convince viewers?

Chivalry airs weekly on Thursdays on Channel 4.
