The Guardians of the Galaxy actor hailed his partner in a birthday tribute post, saying: “She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter, she chews so loudly that sometimes I put in my ear buds to drown it out, but that’s love!”
Yet many felt this was a slight on Chris' ex wife Anna Faris and their son Jack, who was born two months prematurely in 2012 and diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhaging and other issues.
After the anger at the apparent shade, Chris took to his Instagram for an emotional message.
Wearing a baseball cap and hoodie with the American flag, he spoke direct to the camera and said: "Good morning everybody
"I went to bed last night really upset and depressed and I woke up feeling crappy and I didn't want to work out."
Yet he told how his religion pulled him through as he continued: "I knew though if I put on my Christian music playlist and I got out in the woods and ran I'd feel better but I just didn't want to and I did it anyways and gosh was I right.
"It felt amazing. I got out in the woods and got my blood pumping and God is sat there right next to me.
"I say this as a guy who, I don't get emotional that often, but I actually got emotional on this run and I just felt like there was another in the fire standing next to me.
"That was in the song actually I don't know the name of the song, I think that's the lyric, but it's a really good one.
"At that moment it really captured me. I just want to say 'all glory to God'."
In an attempt to offer inspiration to fans, the Jurassic Park star added: "If you feel down today maybe get exercise and maybe listen to some good worship music or get the word in because it really helped me this morning."
'HEALTHY' COMMENTSFans had called out Chris' Instagram comments in relation to Jack, who was diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhaging and other issues after being born prematurely.
Cerebral hemorrhaging is uncontrollable bleeding between the brain tissue and skull or even within the brain tissue itself. This can cause brain damage and be life-threatening.
Jack was born at just 3 pounds, 12 ounces.
His ex Anna wrote in her memoir, there were fears there would be lingering health issues, according to The Blast.
She recalled: “The pediatric neurosurgeon sat Chris and me down to tell us that Jack had some severe brain bleeding and there was a chance that he could be developmentally disabled."
The couple had to wait 18 months before they found out there were no issues with Jack.
It was confirmed that will have some issues with his vision and muscles in his legs, but was expected to make a full recovery after surgery and live a normal life.
MARRIAGE SPLITChris and Anna got engaged and married in 2009 in Bali.
But sadly, the pressures of being Hollywood celebrities would soon put a strain on their relationship.
Faults began in 2013, a year after they welcomed their first child.
Chris became busy with work on Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Rumours that Chris was being unfaithful began to spread, and Anna began to open up to the media about the effects the rumours had on their relationship.
She said on her own podcast, Unqualified, “It made me feel incredibly insecure. Chris and I, we talk about this a lot. We grapple with a lot of the ideas of being a public couple”.
The pair announced their split in August 2017, and the divorce finalised in 2018.
Chis and author Katherine - who is movie star Arnold's oldest daughter - married a year later.
BABY GIRLChris, 41, confirmed the birth of daughter Lyla on Instagram with a photo of him and Katherine holding the baby's tiny hand.
He announced on Monday: "We are beyond thrilled to announce the birth of our daughter, Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt.
"We couldn’t be happier. Both mom and baby are doing great. We are extremely blessed. Love Katherine and Chris."
He then cited Psalm 126:3 - which talks about God doing great things for his children and them being happy - and Psalm 127:3-4 - which talks about children being a gift from God.
A source close to the couple confirmed the two had a daughter and Katherine's family was ecstatic for the family's first grandchild.
A source told ET: "The couple is so excited for their new addition and have been showered with love from their family and friends.
"Chris was there for the birth and the couple can’t stop taking their eyes off their daughter. Katherine and Chris are doing well and Katherine is enjoying the experience of being a first-time mother."
