BBC's Clive Myrie hailed a hero as he remains in Ukraine to deliver updates amid conflict

Clive Myrie has been branded a hero by many BBC viewers over his bravery and courage at bringing coverage from Ukraine amid the conflict in the eastern European country.

It's now been close to a week since Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of his country's neighbour, with capital Kyiv and the surrounding area being at the centre of air strikes from the Russians, as many citizens fled the city in an attempt to get safety.

Clive has been delivering around the clock updates from Ukraine, appearing on BBC Breakfast, on the rolling BBC News channel, the 6 o'clock news, presenting the bulletin live from Kyiv and 10 o'clock news and has been widely commended for his efforts.

On Monday evening, Mastermind presenter Clive took to Twitter to share a video of explosion that shook the building where he and his colleagues have been based, a few days after he described the devastating situation as "hell on earth."

The short clip, saw smoke billowing up from a structure, with sirens heard in the background.

Clive, 57, who has appeared on screen wearing a helmet on numerous occasions over the past few days, captioned it: "This was the explosion that shook our base!" and his dramatic Twitter video sparked a huge reaction from followers, many making sure he was safe and others praising his dedication to the cause.

One replied: "Please take care out there Clive - your news reports are excellent but the situation looks unstable and threatening. I really admire your bravery and commitment to bring the reality of the story to us in the UK."

A second wrote: "You are so brave. Thank you so much for risking everything to bring us the front-line news during this devastating war. Our thoughts are with you, your team and all the people of Ukraine," with a third responding: "Stay safe Clive!! You and your team are so brave. I’m praying for everyone’s safety in Kyiv and whole of Ukraine."
