Crufts 2024 results: Viking is the Best in Show winner

It was a dramatic finish to this year’s Crufts dog show. Not only was an Australian shepherd crowned best in show for the second time in history, a protester attempted to storm the show’s floor moments earlier.

As three-year-old Viking was named this year’s winner, his handler, Melanie Raymond, broke down in tears. “We all dream of winning best in show at Crufts,” she said. Once she had composed herself she added: “[Viking] he’s a clown, he actually thinks he’s a mountain goat.”

The emotional finish came moments after a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) supporter held up a sign reading “Boycott Breeders” and tried to enter the floor before being taken away by security. Activists unfurled a banner in the stands
