Crystal Palace vs Burnley live Goal and score updates as Lennon cross turned in by Milivojevic
Burnley drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday

Sean Dyche was pleased to see his side pick up another point in the relegation battle as they earned a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

The boss was satisfied after the contest, particularly with Burnley's second half display, as they found a way back into the contest.

In some ways it was a more rewarding result than the two wins that proceeded it.

Burnley were not at their best against Crystal Palace but emerged with a point which could prove crucial in the final shake up.

The Clarets were subdued in the first 45 minutes having fallen behind to an early Jeffrey Schlupp goal but they found a leveller early in the second period when Luka Milivojevic put through his own net.

That prompted Burnley’s best spell of the game with Wout Weghorst seeing a goal ruled out for offside but Palace, through the impressive wide pair of Wilf Zaha, who hit a post, and Michael Olise were always in the game.

In the end Sean Dyche will probably settle for a point and although it keeps the Clarets in the bottom three, defeats for Brentford and Leeds United mean Burnley are chipping away at the deficit.

It looked a long way off at the interval. Burnley were second best in the first half and fell behind early when Michael Olise turned Dwight McNeil too easily and sent a cross in for Schlupp to prod home from six yards.

The goal was too easy from a Clarets’ perspective and they were on the back foot for much of the half with Olise and Wilf Zaha causing problems.

But within two minutes of the restart the visitors were level.

Connor Roberts played a smart ball into Jay Rodriguez and his intelligent knockdown released Aaron Lennon whose low centre was turned into his own net by Milivojevic.

That sparked a period of Clarets pressure with Jack Butland tipping over a powerful Weghorst header over before the same player had the ball in the net only to be denied by an offside flag against Jay Rodriguez earlier in the move.

A watchable second half swung one way and then the other with dangerman Zaha forcing a save out of Pope and moments later hitting the foot of the post.

Palace finished the stronger but the Clarets stood firm to put another point on the board in the battle against the drop.
