Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec in the castle studio ahead of the winner being announced, Emmerdale actor Danny Miller said he had decided to appear on the show three weeks after the birth of his first child, a son called Albert, in order to secure his future financially.

He said: “I have made no secret about the fact that I wanted to be able to give him and set him up for a good future. I wasn’t financially set for that and this is an opportunity to do that. It would set me and my family up. I feel like I have done it. I feel proud of myself and I hope my family are as well.”

I’m A Celebrity presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly continued their tradition of mocking the Prime Minister.

During the series finale, they joked that Boris Johnson had signed up to appear on the ITV series in 2022.

Donnelly added: “Before we bring the curtain down on this year’s show, we are always looking ahead. Rest assured folks, we are looking ahead.”

Holding up a campmate T-shirt with the name Boris on it, he added: “We can let you into a little secret. We have already booked our first celebrity for next series, next year, already. So that is something to look forward to. Evening, Prime Minister.”
