Thoma Bravo has revealed plans to acquire artificial intelligence company Darktrace for $5.3 billion – a year and a half after previous takeover discussions collapsed. The private equity giant needs antitrust approval in the UK, US, Australia, Austria and South Africa. Still, it is no stranger to clearing regulatory hurdles, having steered its ForgeRock acquisition past US enforcers last August. Also in The Briefing, Hungary’s government walks back on plans to empower its competition authority to impose remedies after a sector inquiry.
