Dawn French makes millions selling Fowey home in Cornwall to Sir Christopher Evans
She has sold the iconic Point Neptune House - but has not moved far

Dawn French made a profit of more than £4million when she sold her Fowey home to a British businessman millionaire. Land Registry documents show that the Vicar of Dibley star made an impressive £4.3million on her home, which was her primary residence, after purchasing it in 2006.

The 63-year-old moved into the Grade-II listed building with her then-husband Sir Lenny Henry and their daughter Billie. She remained in the home after their divorce, with second husband Mark Bignell - who she married in 2013 - later joining them. That was until last year when a friend of the actress revealed that she had chosen to sell up after "fifteen happy years living there".

She sold it to Welsh professor and scientist Sir Christopher Evans for a whopping £6.6million last year. She paid £2.3 million for it in 2006 - roughly one third of what it sold for.

Sir Christopher made his millions founding biotech companies in the UK. The 64-year-old made the Sunday Times Rich List 2020 in 583rd place with an estimated fortune of £208 million.

The friend said Fowey had become "too trendy" for "low-profile" Dawn French but that she hadn't moved far at all, and would be staying in Cornwall. A friend of the actress said: "Dawn will always love Fowey and spent 15 very happy years living there. She will miss all the locals who made her feel so welcome when she moved into the town.”

Dawn previously said she moved from London to Cornwall after she started to find city life "overwhelming". In her time in Fowey, Dawn showed how much she loves Cornwall and has been a great advocator of the Cornish way - or the right way - of presenting a scone. She has also been regularly spotted walking her dogs on Cornwall's beaches and supporting local businesses.
