Everton, Manchester United and even Spurs fans have backed the Toffees deadline day signings Dele Alli and Donny Van De Beek to shine after failing to impress in the Premier League this season.

Frank Lampard was appointed the new Everton manager yesterday and the club had to act quickly to bring in new additions before the closure of the transfer window.

The Merseyside club brought in Alli on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Tottenham as the 25-year-old looks to reignite his career and Van De Beek on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.

Simon Jordan was however firm with his views when on TalkSport: 'I think it is a shocking endowment of how Dele Alli has disappeared down the rabbit hole with opportunities that he has managed to throw away. I think it is a day late and dollar short for his career.

'Everton don't get him for two and six, and a bag of gobstoppers, and a deferred payment plan unless there is very little regard for him.

'There was no regard for him at Tottenham as they believed they could get no financial return from him. I think it is an incredible punt.

'If we look in our rear view mirror and say there is a possibility that we may not get the previous Dele Alli where he is not modelling boohoo pants, then maybe.

'Frank may have felt he needed new bodies in the building and, it seems as though he has got two runts of the proverbial litter.

'He has got Donny van de Beek, with some Manchester United fans saying he is a pup and can't find anywhere to play him, and you have Dele Alli who has gone through the mincer.'

Football fans have taken to social media to defend the signings and backed them re-kindle previous form after Simon Jordan snubbed the signings by insisting Lampard has got two rejects in Alli and Van De Beek.

Daniel Boswell responded on Facebook, by saying: 'Alli could refesh his career, and as a spurs fan i hope he does. Donny, he could be good, he showed flashes at united, i wish we had signed him at spurs.'

Joe Cousineau also said: 'That might be true right now but they are very likely to help Everton to turn draws into wins when considering that Frank will build the team around them both as well as Calvin and Richarlison.'

Spurs fan Ilan Benjamin added: 'From a Spurs fan I wish Dele well. I hope he can turn it around work hard Dele you can do this. One final thought Mourinho did nothing to help take him forward from Poch time at Spurs actually the opposite.'
