Denise Lewis's husband Steve Finan O'Connor is son of famous ...
Team GB legend Dame Denise Lewis is an Olympic hero - but her husband is also no stranger to the spotlight.
Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Lewis was an iconic figure in British athletics. The heptathlete claimed a bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta before winning gold in Sydney four years later, as well as being a former European and two-time Commonwealth Champion.
After being forced to pull out of the 2004 Games through injury, Lewis retired the following year but had already finished runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing. Regarded as one of the ‘golden girls’ of British athletics, Lewis received a damehood and was elected UK Athletics president in 2023, though later stepped down.
Since retiring from sport, the 51-year-old has become a household name on the BBC’s athletics coverage since 2009 and is providing punditry in Paris. However, her husband Steve Finan O’Connor is familiar with moving in celebrity circles.
Who is Steve Finan O’Connor?
Finan O’Connor was born in 1964 and is the son of iconic comedian and TV presenter Tom O’Connor. His dad made his name on the comedy circuit before hosting popular shows throughout the 1970s and 80s, such as Crosswits and the Tom O’Connor Roadshow. Lewis appeared alongside her husband’s famous father on Celebrity Pointless in 2011.
The 60-year-old previously counted chart-topping groups Madness and All Saints among his high-profile music clients. Finan O’Connor has since delved into property development, though he does still manage former One Direction star Liam Payne.
Among his other ventures, he is the founder of Fan3, a business dedicated to artist management and fan engagement.

Relationship with Denise Lewis
Finan O’Connor and Lewis first met at the Brit Awards in 2000 but did not become a couple until years later. They married in 2006 and have three sons together, Ryan, Kane and Troy. Finan O’Connor has another son from a previous relationship while Lewis also has a daughter from her first marriage.
The couple, who live in Buckinghamshire, welcomed their youngest child in 2018 and spoke openly about being an older mum. “Obviously I was well out of practice. I was wondering how I’d cope,” she told The Sun in 2021.
"But, because I was so overjoyed about having Troy, I decided that this is what I chose and it’s not going to break me. It’s that coping strategy that I’ve adopted for myself.”
