Loose Women first to hear as Denise Welch announces she's a grandma

The Loose Women studio was full of news of a new arrival this week.

Panellist Denise Welch gave everyone a surprise when she announced she'd become a granny.

The star was appearing alongside Nadia Sawalha, Charlene White and Linda Robson on Thursday when she opened up.

But the 63-year-old, who has two sons and a stepson, soon revealed it was a patter of tiny paws rather than feet that she had to talk about, as reports the Mirror.

Charlene started the conversation off by saying: "Denise, I'd like to talk about your exciting news because you became a grandmother."

"I did! As you all know I've made no secret of the fact that I'm desperate, desperate for a grandchild. Matt, Louis, Lewis...." Denise then said.

"Matty and Twigs, his girlfriend, have got a little dog. It's like, 'are 'you a child person? Are you a dog person?' I like some children, I like some dogs.

"But I met my little grand-dog yesterday, Bam Bam, and he is the oddest little looking thing. He's a Brussels Griffon and he looks like a little Gremlin. This little dog, I just don't know. I don't know whether I did feel a pull because it's Matty's dog!"

Charlene replied: "I saw it on your socials like, 'I just met my grand-dog', and I was like, 'Oh Denise, that's just not a thing!' Having a grand-dog is not a thing!"

"Oh my God I'm a fairy dog-mother, of course it's a thing!" Denise fired back, before adding: "The thing is you can hand them back but I am still desperate. It's not going to replace having a grandchild."

Some viewers were not too happy with Denise's choice of words and took to Twitter to comment.

One said: "Denise wanting a Grandchild.... One day you will find out that life is not all about you...Your children have the choice whether they want kids or not... #LooseWomen."

However, viewers weren't overly impressed with Denise's choice of words and took to Twitter to comment.

Others claimed that Denise was talking over the rest of the panel, with someone tweeting: "Every single item and guest has been taken over by Denise today. Every time #LooseWomen."

Another wrote: "You aren't a grandma to a dog. Doesn't Denise get sick of it being all about her. . #LooseWomen."
