Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire cosmetics are coming to Destiny 2

Bungie and Sony Pictures just shared a new collaboration that will be available in Destiny 2 beginning March 19th, with the addition of three Ghostbusters-themed cosmetics.

A press release has yet to be published, but in an aptly timed microtransaction tie-in to promote the upcoming sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, from what’s been shown, offerings include a horned-up Sparrow influenced by Garraka, a Ghost Shell themed after Slimer, and what seems to be a Skimmer modeled after the iconic Ecto-1.

The announcement was made through the official Destiny social channels, with the added caption, “There’s something strange in our neighborhood…”

With no press release from Bungie yet, it’s unknown if this is all the Ghostbusters-themed cosmetics planned. But here at Ghostbusters News, we’re keeping our fingers and Neutrona Wands crossed, hoping they’ll surprise us with some no-ghost branded tan jumpsuit armor.

While today’s reveal may be a bit of a headscratcher for some, it isn’t all that surprising, given that back in July 2022, Sony would acquire Bungie. While likely not directly linked, later that same year, Destiny 2 would include an emote heavily inspired by Ghostbusters, titled “Buster, Ray.”

Arriving in theaters on March 22nd, 2024, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Logan Kim, Celeste O’Connor Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and William Atherton in addition to series newcomers Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind.
