Who will play the next Doctor as Jodie Whittaker's exit from the show is nearing

The second of the three Doctor Who specials that were recorded with the outgoing Doctor Jodie Whittaker airs tonight. The third special has been given a late 2022 scheduling.

The Legend of the Sea Devils will be the penultimate outing for Whittaker's Doctor. At the time of writing there’s been no word on who will take over the iconic role. Speaking about her exit and the next Doctor, Whittaker said: “Once they’ve decided on the next Doctor and announced that, then it will become really real.

"The way they shot the last day was brilliant, because they shot it in order, and we never do that. I knew my last shot was my last shot when I filmed it, which was necessary for my head to make sense of it.”
