Rapper of the moment Doechii has celebrated her historic GRAMMYs win by dropping ‘Nosebleeds’ - a mic-drop moment of a new single that was written especially for the occasion.
Landing hot on the heels of last night’s GRAMMY Awards - where Doechii”s 2024 project ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’ was named Best Rap Album by the Recording Academy - ‘Nosebleeds’ sees her give thanks to her supporters while confidently clapping back at any naysayers, even sampling Kanye’s famed GRAMMYs acceptance speech from 2005 (“Everyone wanted to know what Doechii would do if she didn’t win / I guess we’ll never-“).
It’s the latest in a series of triumphs for Doechii - including two additional GRAMMY nominations (for Best Rap Performance and Best New Artist) and a viral NPR Tiny Desk Concert - and ‘Nosebleeds’ encapsulates just how significant her GRAMMY win is. As she said in her own moving acceptance speech: “This category was introduced in 1989, and two women have won. Lauryn Hill - three women have won. Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii.”
