Child suffers serious injuries after being hit by van at Tim Hortons

A man has been arrested by Greater Manchester Police after a 12-year-old child was taken to hospital with possibly life-changing injuries following an incident at a Tim Horton's drive thru.
Police responded to reports of a road traffic collision at the Tim Horton's on Manchester Road in Oldham, just after 3pm today (January 26). There they found a child aged just 12 with serious injuries, who was then taken to hospital.
The car park of the Canadian restaurant was closed to members of the public while investigations were carried out, though the restaurant remained open. The unnamed man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

Half of the car park remains cordoned off this evening, though customers can still access the 24-hour restaurant.
A spokesperson from GMP said: "Emergency services are responding to a road traffic collision in Hollinwood involving a van and a child.
"At around 3.06pm today (Friday 26 January), police were called to a road traffic collision at a drive thru restaurant on Manchester Road.
"The 12-year-old child has suffered possible life-changing injuries and has been taken to hospital.
"The male driver of the van has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving."
A previous statement from GMP confirmed the child was 14-years-old. They have since amended the child's age to 12-years-old.
