Dunelm selling 'amazing' heated airer that costs just 6p to use an hour

Dunelm has offered shoppers a cheaper alternative to drying freshly washed clothes, which won’t break the bank and save money on energy bills. The retailer's Heated Airer with Wings currently available at £40.

The airer is designed to help fold away neatly to save space and it’s suitable to hold up to 10kg of washing. Its product description reads: “Designed with fold out wings for extra drying space, this heated airer allows you to dry your clothes quickly and has low energy consumption.

"It features an illuminated on and off switch and folds away neatly after use, perfect for saving space in your home. This design is suitable for holding up to 10kg of washing with a 12m drying space.”

Dunelm has calculated the airer's cost per hour using UK Price Guarantee (January 2024) electricity rate of 29.00 pence per kWh. The retailer has explained the prices are correct as of January 2024.

The heated airer currently has an average 3.9 out of five star rating from 677 reviews. and up to 335 reviewers gave the product a perfect score. JT wrote: "Excellent at only 7p an hour you can leave it on all night! Dries clothes really well."

Jane said: "This airer is invaluable for drying clothes in wet weather. Washing takes hardly any time to dry. I can't really say anything bad about it."

JK agreed: “This a great dryer. I can fit plenty of clothes on it. Dries in a timely manner. Would recommend.” Steve commented: “The dryer is lightweight and easy to move around for positioning clothes etc. the bars are comfortably warm and it really speeds up the drying process especially for delicate items. Great value.”

However, Kelly said: “Airer was slightly disappointing as it struggles to maintain stability and thereby given way. I returned it after four months of purchase and the staff at customer service were really helpful.” Marieshez wrote: “Quite a lot of money for what it is, the clothes don't dry unless led flat. Quite flimsy for price, was disappointed.”
